Dahlia did have some experience with babies. She had babysat and taken care of little kids since she was thirteen, and still loved doing it when she made a visit back home. Babies were confusing things, always wanting something, but sometimes you never knew what. She did know, though, that all they really needed was food, love, an care. And this was exactly what she was gonna give little Danielle.
When she first heard about this whole baby thing, Dahlia thought it was stupid and would be a total waste of time. She couldn’t believe she was in it, wondering what she ever did to lLady Hera to make her punish her. Now that she had gotten the baby, though, she was realizing that it was gonna grow on her whether she liked it or not.
She looked over at Luca, smiling. He seemed nice, and she thought they would make good friends. “I thought Danielle Montgomery would sound nice. What do you think?” She asked, smiling down at the baby.
He didn’t take his eyes off the infant, and brushed a curl of her wispy hair our of her face. “I think that’s really nice. After all, only a week, right?” He smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I just need to warn you that I have little to no experience with babies, so I may not be too much help when she’s not in such a good mood.” He said, biting his lip and looking up at Dahlia. Only a week, only a week, his head chanted.
The baby made a noise and got his attention again, and she waved her little arms around for a moment. Her face was starting to look… annoyed? Oh, man, was she going to cry? Luca took hold of her under her arms and straightened her in his grip, so she was on his hip and he held her with only one arm. “…Is she hungry?” He asked, when she continued making some irritated noises.
Luca didn’t have a whole lot of experience with babies before. Sure, he had two younger sisters, but he wasn’t even in double digits when they were born, so the job didn’t fall to him to take care of them. He’d barely held any in his lifetime, actually. Only a second cousin here and there.
He bit his lip as he held the baby given them by Lady Hera, tracing a finger along her little arm, the soft baby skin. A smile twitched at his lips. Even though he knew she was mechanical, she certainly felt real.
"What’s her name?" Luca asked his partner, Dahlia. She seemed like a nice girl as far as he knew her, and he hoped to befriend her over this coming week. He also hoped that she knew more about babies than he did.

“I had no voice to talk with because she was my whole language. Without her to talk to, there was nothing to say.”
I think she’s nice. There are worse people I could be with.
That doesn’t mean I don’t kind of wish I was with Sheilah.
I think it’d be so hard to split my attention equally.
I agree, two or three is quite enough.
Hard to be protective of them all, too.
[swings their hands a little bit] So, Sheilah. What were you up to when I was gone? Any little animals I need to watch for? [tilts his head slightly at her, smiling knowingly]
I, well, um. I still barely know the man, so… it wouldn’t really matter how I felt, now would it?
Thank you for agreeing with me! It also just gives the Hermes cabin more ideas to prank us. Like the time they put chocolate bunnies on the roof…
[smiles softly] You’re welcome. [chuckles] It’s not like they have a hard time coming up with them. [raises an eyebrow] They did?
